The term shawty.

How did that start!?!?  I mean, kudos to the guy that was attentive enought to realize his girlfriend was indeed shorter than he and actually gave enough thought, to slap a nickname on her.  Snaps for you, Sir.  But then what happened?  Did shawty tell another girlfriend about her adorable nickname and she then, told her boyfriend, she wanted to be called shawty or did one of his friends overhear him and think, hey, I can get brownie points if I refer to my girl as shawty?  Exactly how did the term begin to run rampant?  and by rampant I mean in nearly every hip hop song you hear these days.  I wonder if historians of the future, hear or read these lyrics and get confused.  Surely they will scratch their heads and think, is this shawty as in Little People.Big World.  or munchkins out of the Wizard of Oz?  Which will be confusing.  Because we all know.....shawty is usually "up in a club."  And as far as I know, the famous family on TLC is usually not up in a club.  What conclusion will they draw, as they peruse the history of our time?!?  Just some thoughts......
